Were these coyotes or dogs?

First off I don’t know really any thing about hunting and telling the difference between wild animals and stuff but last night me and my friends were having a bond fire in my backyard and I went in the woods to find some sticks to cook hot dogs on and when I was braking a stick off a tree i saw something looking at me with green eyes. I shined my flashlight on it and it was like 4 feet long and gray. I thought it was a lost German Shepard. I walked towards it to see if it had tag on it and it started walking away from me i started following it then it ran really fast under a tree. I went under it and on to the other side I saw 7 of them. I was just looking at them for like 10 sec then one of them put its ears down and showed me its teeth. The front of its teeth was big and sharp then I started running like hell and screaming. When I got back everyone told me they were coyotes and that I probably got in their territory. This was about at 10:30 PM and I live in Rochester NY.

Definitely Coyotes. Be More Careful!! Please. Even If It Was A Lost Dog, You Need To Be Careful Because SomeDogs Are Only Friendly To their FAmily.
