Well, I did get to that craft show this weekend at the McNeil Mansion over on State Street.  I must confess, I didn't go there to buy anything....I went there to see the inside, and WOW!!!!

What a beautiful home.

I also ended up spending money.  They had such nice things and I could have easily spent more but I restrained myself.

There were nice Christmas decorations and some to die for jewelry, and yummy taste treats to buy in the most magnificent kitchen I have ever seen.  One of the front parlor rooms had beautiful knitted items for sale and pleasant smelling candles and soaps.  The whole place smelled yummy!!!

I did purchase two Christmas gifts but couldn't help but splurge on a pair of earrings for myself and a heavily (and heavenly) scented "pumpking spice" candle.

For the two Christmas gifts (little extra gifties for a couple family members) I bought a cute little knitting kit.  A chinese food box stuffed with yarn and two knitting needles arranged like chopsticks with the pattern tucked in.  On the pattern is the web address of a learn to knit site.  I just thought it was an adorable craft and a perfect gift for a couple young ladies that I know.  See photo below.

  • Two Buck Chuck maker sets sights on Australia
First there was Two Buck Chuck. Now, there's Three Dolla Koala. The vintner who shook up the California wine world seven years ago with Charles Shaw wines has come up with Down Under, a chardonnay made of imported Australian bulk wine and priced at around $2.99. Down Under rolls out nationally in July, available at the Trader Joe's grocery store chain and other supermarkets.

  • Cool down this summer with creamy shakes
The difference between shakes and smoothies is all in the fruit, says cookbook author Adam Ried. Start dumping bananas and other produce into the blender and you've got a smoothie. Stay true to ice cream, sorbets and syrups, and you've got a shake.

  • Ceiling fans good idea all year
Gas and energy prices are rising again, and that means Americans must tighten their belts even further. You don't need to dread hot summer temps and high air conditioning bills when you have ceiling fans in your home. And ceiling fan-and-light combinations that have earned Energy Star accreditation are about 50 percent more efficient than non-conforming units.
