Sunday, August 16th my sister and I went to see the musical, "The Church Basement Ladies" at Elgin's Hemmens Auditorium.
The play was fantastic. Starring William Christopher (Father Mulcahy from MASH), it was adorable, well acted, great music, fantastic voices and a story line that will send anyone who grew up in a midwestern protestant church, back in time for a hilarious trip down memory lane.
If you grew up amongst your own set of church basement ladies...watch for this to return to the area in the spring of 2010 when it will be playing at a theater in Crystal Lake....I suggest you get some other protestants together for a hoot.
We are so lucky to have a theater like the Hemmens right in our own city. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
